Time-lapse photography is the technique of capturing a series of images using a pre-programed time interval between each photo. The result is a video of an event that takes place over a period of time ranging from a few seconds to a few hours—or even a couple of days.

The most common subjects are sunrises and sunsets, clouds as they move across the sky, the Milky Way, urban activities, or natural phenomena such as a blossoming flower. The possibilities are endless, however, especially since unlike a DSLR, the size of your DxO ONE means you can set it up anywhere, and it won’t be harmed by the elements if it’s fitted with the waterproof Outdoor Shell !

In principle, Time-lapse photography requires a lot of preparation and discipline as well as extensive post-production work to import and assemble hundreds or thousands of images to produce a Time-lapse video. The DxO ONE is designed to make your job easier, with respect to both producing and immediately using your clip, as the device automatically creates a ready-to-use video.

To address common challenges when filming in Time-lapse mode, such as changes in brightness and color and difficulties with focusing the image, use the DxO ONE’s Auto Ramping mode. This feature locks the autofocus and aperture settings with the very first image, then gradually adjusts the exposure and white balance from one photo to the next for the entire sequence. The result is an even and seamless series of high-quality Time-lapse images.
